AMRITSAR SAHIB—32nd martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh was today observed at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga within Sri Harmandir Sahib premises. The event witnessed a large gathering of Sikh activists of various mainstream and pro-freedom Sikh bodies.
Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Giani Jagtar Singh (Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib) read the Hukamnama. Later, he also addressed the tale of sacrifices made by Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh.
S. Bhupinder Singh (brother of Shaheed Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda), Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema (President, Dal Khalsa), S. Kanwarpal Singh (Spokesperson, Dal Khalsa), Bhai Sarabjit Singh Ghuman, Bhai Mohkam Singh (President, United Akali Dal), Bhai Waryam Singh (brother of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh) and others were present on this occasion.
Families of martyred Sikhs were honoured with siropao (robe of honour) on this occasion.
It may be recalled here that the Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead by Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh on October 31 in New Delhi in avenge of armed invasion into central Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib.
