AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In an attempt to give an end to the dispute between factions of Dhadis (Balladeers), the SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has constituted a two member committee comprising SGPC’s executive member Surjit Singh Bhittewind and SGPC Additional Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhoora Kohna.
Two factions of Sikh dhadhis namely, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Shiromani Dhadi Sabha and Miri Piri Shiromani Dhadi Sabha were face to face over distribution of time by the SGPC. The SGPC had allotted equal time to the duo factions to address religious discourse to the Sikh devotees in front of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, however, in terms of size of the Jathas, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Shiromani Dhadi Sabha is considerably larger than the Miri Piri Shiromani Dhadi Sabha.
Head of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Shiromani Dhadi Sabha Baldev Singh M.A. had earlier warned of starting fast-unto death in protest of SGPC injustice.
Speaking to Sikh24, Sukhdev Singh Bhoora Kohna informed that the heads of duo factions have agreed to end the dispute via dialogue. He added that Baldev Singh M.A. has ensured him that he won’t start hunger strike and he has even written a letter to the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to resolve the matter.
On being contacted by Sikh24, Baldev Singh M.A. said that there were 31 “jathas” in his group and the other group, Miri Piri Shiromani Dhadi Sabha, had only 10 “jathas”. However both groups were allotted an equal time to perform at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.  He has sought more time for his group.
