Lohgarh Fort’s Installation Anniversary Celebrated with Fervor at Gurdwara Kapal Mochan

28 May 2018 06:07 AM PDTYAMUNA NAGAR, Haryana—Installation anniversary of Lohgarh fort was observed with unprecedented religious fervor on May 27 at Gurdwara Sahib of Kapal Mochan (Haryana). A huge gathering of Sikh devotees was observable in this state level program organized by the SGPC.
Addressing the gathering, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal said that the first Khalsa emperor erected by the great Sikh general Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was implementation of path enlightened by the great Sikh masters to liberate humanity from physical and mental slavery. He added that the Lohgarh fort encourages us to fight against oppression and injustice.
Longowal announced that the SGPC will celebrate installation anniversary of Lohgarh Fort every year. He said that the construction work in 10 acres land is on-going for the development of Gurdwara Kapal Mochan complex.
SAD president Sukhbir Badal said on this occasion that the Khalsa Emperor erected by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was an example in itself as communal harmony and respect of all religions was its specialty. He added that the Sikh masses should take inspiration from Lohgarh Fort to end social evils.
The Lohgarh Sahib Fort (meaning Iron Fort) about 30 kilometers from Sadaura was made by Bhai Lakhi Rai Wanjara under instructions from sixth Sikh master Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. Its construction began sometimes after 1626 and was finally completed in 1710. It was made capital of Khalsa kingdom in 1710 by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who had earlier captured Samana in 1709 and later also captured Sadaura in Battle of Sadaura in 1709 after Mughals had declared ‘jihad’ against the forces of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
