EcoSikh team planted trees in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, at Prettyboy Reservoir Watershed as reforestation project to save fishery near the Chesapeake Bay. On Saturday, April 28, 2018, EcoSikh helped plant 700 trees in the Prettyboy Reservoir watershed, Baltimore County, MD, in collaboration with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and other environmental groups in the Washington area. CBF has worked with Holly Springs Nature Conservancy planting over 15 acres along Compass Run, a tributary to the reservoir that is a cold water fishery. This stream system supports brook trout, a fish species that is rapidly losing its’ habitat due to climate change. This reforestation project is the next phase of restoring this fishery. This project is part of CBF's partnership with WGL Energy and Sterling Planet to sequester carbon through reforestation.
ਈਕੋਸਿੱਖ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਚੱਲਦਿਆਂ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਚ ਚੈਸਾਪੀਕ ਖਾੜੀ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਜੀਵਨ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਗ਼ੈਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਲਹਿਰ 7ਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਏ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਓ ਲਹਿਰ ਚਲਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
