Sikh Generals Of Indian Army To Be Installed in Central Sikh Museum

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Condoling the demise of the Indian Air Force’s highest (five star) ranked Sikh officer S. Arjan Singh on September 17, the SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that warriors like Arjan Singh act as a source of inspiration for next generations.
Marshal Arjan Singh passed away two days ago, on September 16. He served as Chief of the Air Staff from 1964 to 1969. For his distinguished service in commanding the IAF during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan and in 1966 became the first IAF officer to be promoted to Marshal of the Air Force.
SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar announced an installation of a portrait of Arjan Singh in the Central Sikh Museum of Sri Harmandir Sahib. He also announced that a portrait of Lieutenant General Harbaksh Singh (three starred officer) will also be installed there. Lt Gen Harbaksh Singh commanded the Indian Army forces and played a key role during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Vir Charkra.
Indian Army’s Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora will also be installed in the CSM. General Jagjit Singh Arora was a three-star General in the Indian Army. He was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
