SANGRUR, Punjab—A court of additional sessions, Judge Sanjeev Joshi, acquitted 56 Sikhs yesterday, in a case pertaining to an attack on a Sirsa Cult branch in Sunam and attempting to murder two disciples there

The defense lawyer Advocate Narpal Singh Dhaliwal said that in 2007 the Sikh masses had held a meeting at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in reaction to Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s act of copying the attire of tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He added that the Sikh masses got entangled in a clash with Sirsa cult disciples near Sunam when they were returning back to their homes. Sirsa cult disciples Sadha ‘Singh’ and Ajaib ‘Singh’ lodged a police complaint against the Sikh activist, which resulted in the arrests.
