Navjot Sidhu Likely to Face Sedition Charges for Hugging Pakistan Army Chief
Posted: 20 Aug 2018 09:32 PM PDTCHANDIGARH—While the Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu is being highly hailed by the common masses for making efforts to reinstate friendly relations between India and Pakistan, an antagonist of him approached the Court on August 20 seeking indictment of Navjot Sidhu under sedition charges. Muzaffarpur based lawyer named Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha moved a petition in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Hari Prasad seeking registration of a case under sedition charges against Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Accusing Navjot Singh Sidhu of making mockery of the families of “martyred” Indian soldiers by hugging the Pakistani Army Chief General Bajwa, the petitioner has asked the Court for initiating case against Sidhu under various sections of the Indian Penal Code that included- 124 A (sedition), 153 B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
“Sidhu, who had gone to Pakistan to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as PM on August 18, hugged the Pakistan General Bajwa on whose orders Indian soldiers are getting killed in cross-border terrorism,” Ojha submitted in his complaint while adding that “it was General Bajwa who is responsible for the beheading of our soldiers.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the next hearing on the petition has been put onto August 24 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Hari Prasad.
