14 Nov 2018 08:17 PM PSTNEW DELHI, India—On November 14, two Sikh genocide culprits namely Naresh Sherawat and Yashpal “Singh” were reportedly held guilty of murdering two innocent Sikhs by a Delhi based Court of additional session judge Ajay Pandey. Notably, the case was recently reopened by the Indian government appointed Special Investigation Team after its closure due to insufficient documents in 1994.
The case pertains to the brutal murder of two innocent Sikhs namely Hardev Singh and Avtar Singh in Mahipalpur area of south Delhi during the 1984 Sikh genocide. Court records reveal that a mob of fanatic Hindus comprising 500 people, including the two accused, murdered innocent Sikhs, burnt shops and looted people in the area.
The common object of the unlawful assembly, among others, was to murder people of the Sikh community, which is clear from the slogans raised by its leaders and the manner in which the members carried out its object. Hence, prosecution has successfully proved the offence of murder against both accused persons,” said the Judge.
The Court held both the accused guilty under various sections including 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 395 (robbery) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.
It is learnt that the duo guilty culprits were taken into custody immediately after the verdict of Court. However, the quantum of punishment will be addressed today.
Although the duo culprits deserve to be executed but it is being speculated that they will be addressed life imprisonment as the Indian judiciary is “renowned” for adopting soft attitude towards the criminals belonging to Hindu majority.
