550th Birthday Celebrations: Punjab Government Likely To Release 40 Prisoners On Inauguration Program

16 Nov 2018 07:50 PM PSTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—On the eve of 550th birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Congress led Punjab government is likely to release 40 prisoners as a goodwill gesture. It is learnt that the Punjab government has started the process to get nod from the Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore so that the beneficiary prisoners could be released on the inauguration function.
A senior government official has informed that the Punjab government is set to launch a special logo commemorating year long birth anniversary celebratory programs in Sultanpur Lodhi. The state government officials are continuously working hard to make preparations for marking this historic eve. 
Sources within the Punjab government have revealed that the Punjab government is planning to start the 550th birthday celebrations by taking out a religious procession from Dera Baba Nanak to Sultanpur Lodhi.
“Set in the 15th/16th century, the model walled village in an area of around 75 acres will have dwelling units. A small museum showcasing relics of the Guru Sahib will be part of the village,” said a source.
He informed that the government plans to develop a promenade along the river Kali Bein that will be weeded and an eco-friendly zone and parks will be built around it to highlight its significance. “The Kanjli wetland, downstream of the rivulet, will also be developed” he added.
“So far, the Union government of India has released only Rupees 350 million against Rupees 214.5 billion sought to accomplish various projects for the year-long celebrations,” said an official source.
