Expelled Akali Leaders Announce to Float New Akali Dal; Claims of Friendly Politics between Badals and Captain

02 Dec 2018 08:05 PM PSTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Finally, the Majha based veteran Akali leaders Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Dr. Ratan Singh Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan have announced to float a new party. Notably, trio of them were expelled from the party for raising a banner of revolt against Sukhbir Badal’s dominance over Shiromani Akali Dal last month.
Taking on the Badal clan for distracting the SAD from its original ideology, the trio leaders stated that they will implement the original ideology of Shiromani Akali Dal adopted at the time of its formation in 1920. “We will make the original ideology work by making it adaptable to present circumstances and prevailing situation” they added.

On being questioned about the name of their new party, they said that their party would retain the words ‘Shiromani Akali Dal’, but the suffix would be announced soon. “We will announce the future course of action on December 14 i.e. the foundation anniversary of Shiromani Akali Dal” they added.
Appealing the like-minded leaders of Punjab to join their efforts for reviving the original ideology of Shiromani Akali Dal, they said that they have apprised Sukhpal Khaira and Bains brothers about their vision.
Exposing the SAD’s compromising situation with Congress in Punjab, Sekhwan claimed that the SAD leadership and Congress had reached an agreement before the 2017’s assembly polls to prevent emergence any third party in Punjab. “The duo parties had fielded their candidates with mutual cooperation to oust AAP candidates in Punjab” he added.
The trio leaders also sought an apology from the Sikh masses for not raising the Sikh issues in an appropriate way during their presence in the party. They again accused Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Majithia for misusing the temporal Sikh posts and Shiromani Akali Dal for their vested interests.
“Their ill-conceived moves have dented the core image of SAD and reduced it to a dynasty. This was the reason it had to contend with just 15 seats in the last assembly polls. These circumstances necessitated the formation of a new party based on Akal Dal’s original constitution,” said Brahmpura.
