Nanak Shah Fakir: Listen to what this Sikh Has to Say About the Movie

BATHINDA, Punjab (March 31, 2015)—The Sikh Students Federation (Mehta) has filed a lawsuit against the team of the upcoming movie “Nanak Shah Fakir”.  The movie is based on the life of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru.  SSF Mehta has alleged that the movie is blasphemous in nature as it personifies Guru Nanak and other Sikhs.
A press conference was held in Bathinda today, in which Paramjeet Singh Jaggi and Harjinder Singh Kaka, both members of the Sikh Student Federation stated that the filmmakers had disturbed Sikh sentiments.  They stated that the movie goes against basic Sikh tenants which prohibit personification of Sikh Gurus.
They stated that a lawsuit has been filed as per directions of Giani Gurmukh Singh, the acting Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.
Sikh Student Federation (Mehta) and other Sikh organizations had jointly staged a protest against Nanak Shah Fakir movie on March 25.
