Dear All,
Let me Remind you lest we forget, Sikhs by nature are respectful,
courageous, hardworking, and enterprising. Look into their short span of history and you will find their pitcher is full of sacrifices and hard work which has contributed so much towards the building of the Indian nation. If
not for them, the course of Indian History would have been very different.
Volumes could be written on the contributions made by the Sikhs, who constitute less than 2% of Indian population. Just a few are listed below:
During 17th Century, when India was ruled by Mughals (Muslim Extremists), Hindus, Sikhs, and people from other religions were humiliated and deprived of any right to conduct their religious practices. Mughals treated the Hindu women as there own property and were forcing all Hindus to accept Islam and even used to kill if they refused to accept.Sikhs have always believed in the right of an individual to practice a religion of his or her
own choice and have always fought against tyranny.
During late 1600s, Aurangzeb, the 6th Mughal ruler was a fanatic ruler who desired to convert every Indian to Islam. Tyrannized by Aurangzeb’s forceful conversions in 1675, Kashmiri Pandits (Hindu Priests) approached
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Guru of Sikhs.
Guru Ji sacrificed his life for the protection of Hindu religion. Can anybody lay down his life and that too for the protection of another religion? This is the reason he is still remembered as "Hind Ki Chaddar",
Shield of India. For the sake of whom he had sacrificed his life, none of the them came forward to lift his body, fearing that they would also be assassinated.
For seven centuries, since the invasion of Mahmud Ghazni in the 10th century, many ruthless invaders played havoc with the life of Indians.
Recurring defeats had sapped the psychic energy of the Indians so much that they had resigned themselves to their fate. It was Guru Gobind Singh Ji who implanted fearlessness amongst the Sikhs to fight against all odds.
The first battle for freedom from British was won by Sikhs, when after loss of many lives in 1929 they were able to take over the charge of their shrines from British. On this victory Mahatma Gandhi sent a telegram writing, "The first decisive battle of independence of India won - congratulations".
Bhagat Singh while studying in Berkeley University in California went back to Punjab to fight against the British army and was hanged in 1913 while fighting for freedom.
Udham Singh in 1940 went to London and shot General Michael O' Dwyer at a public meeting as a revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Udham Singh did not flee, surrendered himself, and was later executed.
Even though Sikhs were 2% of the population of India, out of 42,000 recruits in the Indian National Army under the command of Subhash Chandra Bose, 28,000 soldiers, contributing 67% were Sikhs.
Following is the contribution of Sikhs who are less than 2% of the population of India in the freedom struggle against the British:
* Punished*  * Total* * Sikhs*  *% of Sikhs*
 Hanged by British  121  93  77%
 Life Imprisonment  2646  2147  81%
 Jallianwala Bagh Massacre  1300  799  62%
Partition of India in 1947 brought innumerable death to Sikhs and was one of the greatest disaster known in the Indian history. Surely the Sikhs paid the heaviest price for the freedom of the country.
Punjab lost its most fertile part to Pakistan during the partition.
However, today due to hard labor of Sikh farmers, the Punjab in India produces much higher quantities of food grain than the fertile Punjab in Pakistan. Punjab contributes 40% of rice and 51% of wheat into the central
pool of food grains in India.
Sikhs were the first to rise and fight invasions by Pakistan in 1960s and 1970s. Pakistan’s invasion lead to full force wars between Indian and Pakistan. Again Sikh, this time joining hands with Hindus contributed and
laid their lives down to protect the borders and freedom of India. Pakistan lost all the wars.
Contribution of Sikhs towards the Indian Defense Services is the highest with respect to their 2% population size. This community has also won the maximum number of gallantry awards since independence - 5 Param Vir Chakras (PVCs), 40 Maha Vir Chakras (MVCs), 209 Vir Chakras (VrCs).
Ever since India gained independence, it has tried to suppress Sikhs politically, economically, socially and religiously. Interference in Sikh religious matters, denying the Sikhs their basic rights, discrimination in
employment, attacking Sikh holy places, undermining and misrepresenting the Sikh identity in movies and educational institutions, infiltrating Sikh leadership and massacre of the Sikh youth are some of the measures
implemented by the Indian government, Hindu officials and nefarious Hindu terrorist groups like RSS, Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal. The oppression and injustice took a new turn when India attacked Darbar Sahib, the holiest place of Sikhs. Since then, thousands have been martyred through a systematic and planned genocide via fake encounters, tortures and disappearances. Sikhs continue to face the same suppressive measures and
the biased Indian media has turned a blind eye to the Sikh situation.
NOVEMBER 1984 SIKH GENOCIDE NOVEMBER
SYSTEMATIC AND ORGANIZED KILLINGS OF SIKHS IN EIGHTEEN STATES AND MORE THAN
HUNDRED CITIES ACROSS INDIA
More than 30,000 Sikhs killed throughout India (most burnt alive)
• Hundreds of Sikh women gang raped throughout India by goons, police
officers and civil       administrators and told that next generation
(after rape) will be loyal to Government of India
• More than 300, 000 Sikhs displaced and rendered homeless
• Hundreds of Gurudwaras and Guru Granth Sahibs (treated as living Guru by
Sikhs) burnt and     desecrated in a systematic and planned way across
India
• Around 300 Sikh soldiers done to death in Uniform by fellow soldiers
• 120 Sikhs working at the Bokaro Steel Plant Jharkhand thrown alive into
burning furnaces
• Children as old as 13 days of age roasted alive on gas stoves in Kanpur
and other cities in India
• In Agartala, Tripura 40 Sikh families who took refuge in a police station
to save their lives were burnt alive in the police station
• In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 12 Sikhs were hanged from the ceiling at the
railway platform
• Small Children killed ruthlessly by pulling their legs apart while their
mothers being raped
• In Haryana and Madhya Pradesh Sikh women taken into hostage and raped
during November 1984, still held in captivity by the goons
• Sikh women taken from refugee camps and raped even after November 6, 1984
• Sikhs on public roads burnt alive, dragged out from trains and lynched on
the railway platforms and set on fire
• Property of Sikhs worth millions looted and destroyed
From 1932-47, Sikhs were offered an opportunity to create a separate Sikh
country nearly half a dozen times which was turned down every single time
by the leaders for the reason of keeping India undivided.
Congress and other parties like AAP assured Sikhs that all the necessary
measures will be taken to ensure the safeguard the rights of the Sikhs and
an autonomous area in the northern India will be established where Sikhs
could freely thrive and practice their faith. Instead of appreciating and
honoring the Sikhs for their long hard struggle and sacrifices, the Hindu
leaders adopted a different policy.
All of the promises were broken, specific laws were enacted to decimate the
Sikh identity, religion and culture and majority Hindu rule was forced upon
the Sikhs.
A new era of Sikh suppression and massacres began in new India under the
Hindu rule.
So there is no hope, only hope is free punjab. Koi Shakk?

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today for the first time welcomed
the Prime Minister's Bihar package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore and the additional
investment of Rs 40,000 crore, and demanded their sincere implementation
for development of the state.
"I welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi's package for Bihar of Rs 1.25 lakh
crore with additional investment of Rs 40,000 crore for running
projects...from here onward I would like sincere implementation of the
package," he said in the legislative Assembly today while replying to the
debate on the Governor's address to the joint sitting of the Bihar Assembly.
Kumar had earlier trashed the Bihar package which the Prime Minister had
announced at an official function in Ara (Bhojpur district) on September 18
and had described it as "repackaging of old schemes" during election
rallies.
The Chief Minister also urged Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary to constitute a
joint committee of the members of the two Houses for monitoring
implementation of the package and utilisation of the committed funds
against specific projects.
"I leave it to you (Speaker) to constitute a joint committee of members of
House of Bihar legislature or the legislative assembly only for monitoring
of the implementation of the Prime Minister's Bihar package," he said.
"The choice is yours," the Chief Minister said looking in the direction of
the Speaker.
Kumar stressed that no politics should be played in the state's development
and said the construction of National Highway (NH), electricity generation
through Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP) and other schemes would go a long
way in fulfilling the state's aspiration for infrastructure.
Imploring the NDA government at the Centre for implementation of the
package, he said that it should not only remain on paper, but must be seen
on ground.
Brushing aside interruptions by Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar who wanted
him to announce bonus for paddy procurement and speak on law and order
situation, Kumar completed his 75-minute speech on his dedication to the
state's development through implementation of his seven-point commitment
with an investment of Rs 2.70 lakh crore over the next five years.
He said that his government will launch specific programmes to boost
agrarian development, human resources development, health, education,
welfare programmes and road and electricity infrastructure in order to
build a developed Bihar in a time-bound manner.
He said that the state government will ensure peace in Bihar and added that
the rule of law will prevail at all times.
The Chief Minister made specific commitments like Wi-Fi facility in all
educational institutions, reduction of fertility rate through education of
girls upto minimum of intermediate level, bringing all students dropping
out from schools back to their classes, Rs 4 lakh student credit card for
higher education, computer literarcy programme for students and making them
conversant in English language, besides skill development for their
employability.
Among other commitments, he said that the state goverment will provide
electricity to all households by next year and also supply water through
pipeline.
The Chief Minister said that the state gets power from generation plants in
Bihar and the central quota apart from purchasing from private distributors
to meet the ever-increasing demand.
He said that the state government will construct pucca roads in habitats
with populations of 250 and connect pathways within villages with concrete
roads so that people do not have to soil their legs while going from one
place to another as was the case in the rural areas now.
Kumar said that the implementing agencies have to be strengthened to
enforce his seven-point commitment. The implementation will be monitored by
a cabinet committee headed by the Chief Minister himself.
Kumar also reiterated his demand for grant of special status to Bihar to
fast-track economic development in the state saying that the special
measure has helped in development of all eleven states accorded the special
status by the Centre.
The funding pattern for the special category states are still divided in
the ratio of 90:10 between Centre and the concerned states in
implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), he said. The grant of
special status will leave Bihar with adequate cash in hand for development
and welfare works which at present goes into meeting the state commitment's
to share cost of implementation of the central schemes in Bihar.
Stating that both houses of Bihar legislature had passed resolutions twice
demanding special status, he urged the Centre to consider the demand
otherwise it would take 25 to 30 years at present the growth rate for the
state to become a developed one.
Hailing the NITI Ayog report which stated that Bihar registered 17.6 per
cent growth rate in 2014-15, the highest among all states, the Chief
Minister said that he will not be satisfied till the state makes over eight
per cent contribution to the country's GDP.
Bihar's contribution to the national GDP has increased in recent years
reaching 3.39 per cent last fiscal, but it was still small and the state
must contribute 8.2 per cent to the GDP to showcase its development, the
Chief Minister said.
