1.      ‘Being Truthful Is Key To Journalism’ Does Mean To Say, ‘The History Is Journalism, Be Truthful To Journalism Rather Be Truthful To The History’ Seems Clearly Meant To Say By Learned Harish Khare, Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Publications as Balbir Singh Sooch-Sikh Vichar Manch concluded.
2.      Batting for freedom of speech and transparency, he said, “The requirement of the profession shall always remain the same — being truthful and competent.”

“One must understand that news is instant history which forms the basis of historical writing in the coming times. It’s a relationship of trust.”
4.     
He termed the new technology and social media as modern tools of pursuing “correct journalism”, which could not replace the independence of the media and its pursuit to be factual.
5.     
Harish Khare, Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Publications, today urged students of journalism and mass communication at Khalsa College to understand the responsibilities of the profession.
6.     
Speaking on “New trends in journalism”, he suggested the need to evolve with the changing times.
7.     
Khare said, “One must understand that news is instant history which forms the basis of historical writing in the coming times. It’s a relationship of trust.”

He termed the new technology and social media as modern tools of pursuing “correct journalism”, which could not replace the independence of the media and its pursuit to be factual.

Asking budding journalists to choose the profession wisely, he said, “Journalism reflects the changing socio-economic situation. Only those should join this profession whose aim is not to make money but to serve society.”

Batting for freedom of speech and transparency, he said, “The requirement of the profession shall always remain the same — being truthful and competent.”

On social media in journalism, he said, “Many a time, information is pasted without any structured evaluation and editing, due to which such things reach the public that may not be healthy for the social order and might not be conducive to the parameters of reality.”

Khare also answered queries by students. Principal Dr Mehal Singh, Dean, Academics, Prof Sukhmeet Bedi, and Prof Navreen Bawa, HoD, Journalism and Mass Communication, were among those present during the session.
