“Due to cyclonic waves, three houses were completely destroyed in the area and over 30 houses were partially damaged. Houses of over 40 families were submerged,” said Vypeen MLA S Sarma.
As many as 421 families residing near Veliyathparambu beach in Nayarambalam were shifted to Devi Vilasom Upper School, which was turned into a relief camp early on Saturday. Residents alleged that authorities failed to issue an alert on time.
Schools in relief camps in Kochi are on holiday
The district collector informed that schools would run for relief camps in Ernakulam district on December 4 (Monday). HSS, Kannamali St Joseph’s Convent, Edavanakkad Al Falahiya Madras, Kandakadavu St.Medras, St.George HSS Chellanam, St. Mary’s HSS Chellanam, Puthanthottu GHSS, Velliyamparampuva Devvisilasam LPS, Nairaakalaku Govel Faceschool School, Cherai Ramavarma LP Scul, Palathamkulangara Bhagavathi Address Francis Church Parish Hall are the schools which were converted into relief camps.
