JALANDHAR, Punjab (March 1, 2015)—Punjab Congress spokesperson and former MLA from Bholath (Kapurthala) constituency Sukhpal Singh Khaira is gearing up to leave Congress and join Aam Aadmi Party. Khaira’s mind has changed in view of eroding base of oldest political party of India.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira had called a meeting of Congress leaders and workers of Bholath constituency at his native village Ramgarh. The meeting discussed recent defeat of Congress in civic polls and scope of AAP in Punjab.  It has been learnt that Khaira is feeling suffocation within the party for long and he has expressed his anger with the party leadership on various occasions. In the meeting, he specially mentioned that he has worked for the party with great determination but the leadership has not paid for that.
It was general impression in the meeting that Congress leadership has turned deserted and lost base in Public due to factionalism.
Although, old workers suggested him to go with temperateness but majority of the workers agreed to join AAP. It also has been learnt that Khaira is willing to join AAP for a year but his keenness has grown up with the landslide victory of it in Delhi polls.
On being contacted, Khaira said that discussion on the issue of joining AAP is going on and no concrete decision has been taken yet.   Sources said, Khaira is in touch with the state leadership of AAP and his various meeting with Sucha Singh Chhotepur have been held.  Chhotepur has acknowledged that Khaira has contacted him, however he said a decision will be taken by AAP senior members.
