The Sikhs in India and The Sikh Diaspora are well aware that Gurus Sahibaan had effectively condemned the various social ills such as .. adultery, caste, drinking, dowry and Sati system, etc.
But it seems that after 1947, most of the Sikhs have started abandoning the Guru’s Teachings, but ever eager to
imitate other societies.
We are more conscious of our status, so called caste and to amass wealth by hook and crook means but won’t take care of our children and old parents.
Joint family system has disappeared and even amongst the Sikh families,
each member has his/her own way of life.
First of all, we all must obey and practice Gurbani as enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib at pages 1 to 1429, and live the Sikh way of life as taught by our Gurus Sahibaan by getting rid of casteism, dowry system, status symbol and consider equality amongst all the Sikhs.
Parents must have sufficient time to be with their children so that they are not alone merely watching TV and other video pictures. All family members
should follow the basic tenets of Sikh religion and live in harmony and peace. If so desired, have a look at the Attachment.
On week-ends, Gurduara Parbandhaks and other Sikh Organizations should arrange the Sikh Scripture classes, absolutely based on the “Guru Granth Sahib”, and not based on any cult/sect’s approach.
Currently, there has been no Unity amongst the Sikhs because most of them have been following different paths depending on Deravaad and individual personified cults/sects.
    With best wishes,
Gurmit Singh (Sydney-Australia)
