Badoongar Sahib and Nanakshahi Calendar.
Jathedar Badoonger Sahib Ji were in charge at SGPC up to July 2003, when Bibi Jagir Kaur Declared the Nanakshahi Calendar of Sikh Nation in 2003, that remained in force for seven years without any problem. It was welcomed and accepted by the Sikhs all over the world and the governments also. There were only three dates that were kept on waiting list before completing the task.
Madame  Eleanor Nesbitt of The Centre for philosophical & Religious Studies in U,K  wrote in her book on Sikhism that by the adoption of Nanakshahi Calendar by Sikhs is a step that will prevent Subsuming of Sikh Religion into Hinduism.
Now its up to the Sikhs to add Bandi Chhord Day as 12 February - The accurate date of the arrival of Guru Hargobind Sahib at Amritsar. Similarly, the  Correct date for Guru Nanak Sahib Ji,s Parkash day is Waisiakhi that falls on 14th of April each year and this is also the date for the Creation of Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib. All the municipalities and township government across Canada declared 14th April as "KHALSA DAY" in 1999 at the tercentenary . Hola Muhalla has nothing to do with holi.
The celebrations and observations of Gurpurabs is not for stuffing our bellies with sweets and lighting deevas with fire crackers to pollute "Pavan Guru Panee Pita,Mata Dharat Mahat..." We must behave as grown ups with sensible deeds such as Reciting Gurbani Path,Kirtan and remembering our great History to observe these events in our precious lives, without indulging in Superstitions,Bharm,Whems etc.
I wrote two long letters to SGPC in 2015 (May 1st & Nov 1st) on Nanakshahi Calendar 2003- KION, KADON TAI KITHAI (Why,When & Where). May be I need to write again to the new In charge now, who is better educated to understand the importance of this matter for Sikhs who are now living all over the World, where even Hindus do not understand the Bikrami dates etc. The world had come a long way from the time of Arya Bhat and follow the Atomic Clocks that are precise to the millionth of a second.
