3.     New Delhi: Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Saturday wrote to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as security for Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu citing ‘growing threat perception to his life’..
4.     Surjewala’s remark came after Sidhu on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for raising questions on his Pakistan visit.

6.     Clearing the air over his Pak visit, Sidhu said he wouldn’t be proving his patriotism to people whose name cropped up in 2002 Godhra riots. While speaking to reporters ahead of the second phase of the Chhatisgarh Assembly Election 2018, Sidhu questioned if PM Modi was jealous that he wasn’t invited for Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony.
7.     As quoted by ANI, Sidhu said, “Is the PM jealous that he was not called (for Imran Khan’s oath ceremony)? Is he jealous that he went to Pakistan uninvited (for Nawaz Sharif’s birthday)?  I’ll not prove my patriotism to people whose name came up in Godhra(riots case).”
8.     Sidhu’s latest remarks on PM Modi came after the BJP had asked the Punjab minister to become part of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet. A case of sedition had also been filed against Sidhu in a Bihar court for hugging the Pakistan Army chief during his visit to Pakistan.
9.     “The kind of love he (Sidhu) exudes for Pakistan, the only advice which we can give is Sidhu please proceed to become a part of Imran Khan’s cabinet. Repeatedly engaging with Pakistan shows a conspiracy. It depicts his mentality to divide north and south India and that is a strategy being followed by the whole of Congress,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had said after Sidhu had compared South India with Pakistan.
10.The cricketer-turned-politician is among the several star campaigners selected by the grand old party for poll campaigning in the state.
