CHANDIGARH, Punjab—At the call of the President of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, S. Jagdish Singh Jhinda, retired Army officers and soldiers have written a letter to the President of India Sri Pranab Mukherjee asking him to clarify the reason for the non-inclusion of the Sikh regiment on the Republic Day Parade.
The officers have said that it was a golden chance for Sikhs to apprise French President Francois Hollande about the Sikh identity but the Indian government didn’t let them do so, by excluding the Sikh regiment from the parade for the first time.
