CALIFORNIA: 2016 Annual Riverside Holla Mahalla Tournament to Be Held First Week of April

LOS ANGELES, California, USA—The 2016 Riverside Gatka Tournament is set to take place on April 2 and 3 at Gurdwara Sahib Riverside in Los Angeles, California. The event takes place annually and has become a popular attraction for Sikhs across California and other parts of the country.
Gatka is the Sikh martial arts which originated at the time of Guru Hargobind Sahib. During the tournament, Sikh teams from different parts of California complete for the top spot. The event is organized by Gurdwara Sahib Riverside in collaboration with the California Gatka Dal – an umbrella body of various gatka teams across California.
This year’s event will include a ‘bir russ’ kirtan darbar, along with a talk on importance of Shastar Vidiya. A special fire and shastar presentation will also take place on Saturday from 7 to 8 PM.
The actual gatka competition will commence at 8 AM on Sunday and continue until 4 PM. A special presentation on shastars will also be held on Sunday at 10:30 AM.
