      Subject: Issue of Identity of Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists in the Supreme Court of India
                                                                                           -Time to Unite -
Dear Sir/ Madam,
This is to bring to your notice that a Case has been admitted in the Supreme Court of India on the 15th Oct, 2012 [SLP (C) No.: 18634/2011], about the Issue of Identity of the Sikhs, Jains, & Buddhists under the Indian Law, wherein these Communities are (mis)labelled as ‘Hindus’, thus leading to Discrimination.  The Case seeks the Rights that are due to these Communities, as the Secular India treats all Religions as Equal.  The Case was admitted by the Chief Justice [of India] Altamas Kabir, Justice SS Nijjar & Justice Chelameswar.
The Final Hearing of the Case is on 13th March, 2013.
If your or any other Sikh/ Jain/ Buddhist Organisation feels a Loss of Identity under the Indian Law, then you [these] are requested to "Intervene" at the Supreme Court of India and Support the Issue, before that Date [i.e., 13th March].  The Organisation can either become a Party or send us a Resolution to the effect that Our Community feels Discriminated under the Indian Law, citing an example or two, if possible, and demanding that this Issue be addressed.  [More than one Organisation(s) can come together as a Party.]
The Case has the potential to completely, cent per cent, remove the mislabeling of Sikhs, Jains & Buddhists as 'Hindus' in all the Statutes of the Indian Law, and for all the times to come!  Moreover, the Sikhs can, in spite of this Case, continue to fight for their other demands simultaneously - just as the Sikhs are now seeking amendment of Article 25 after getting the Registration-of-Marriages Demand met (which reinforces their independent identity). And, even meeting of the Article 25 demand, the very basic to their Identity, is not going to deter them from seeking Sikh Personal Laws, if that is what is collectively desired by them.
As such, if the Demand to address the Issue of Discrimination is met through this Petition, the Sikhs can still seek a separate Sikh Personal Law, if they so desire - on the plea that the Sikhs are recognized as a Minority like the Christians & the Muslims by the National Commission of Minorities.  So, let us keep getting whatever we can, and as and when we can. Also, if we could prove Discrimination through this Case, it can only strengthen our case for future demands. The main stress of this Case is to prove that the Sikhs, Jains & Buddhists are being discriminated. If we get a favorable response from the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the solution would ultimately be found by the Parliament, through a Standing Committee, after receiving suggestions from all quarters. But the Independent Identity of all these Religions will have to be ensured.
Let us come together and avail of this Opportunity, lest the Government of India says that Identity is not an Issue with any Community in India.  Your Voice can make all the difference [And So Can Your Silence!]. Yet, I firmly honor the right of all the Organisations to make their decisions in their wisdom for the benefit of the Communities they represent.
I write to you Duty-Bound - nothing more, nothing less. And, bringing this information to your kind notice is a part of the job that I have assigned to myself.
