 Brig Gagneja’s family members went ahead with the cremation despite being asked to delay it for a few minutes so that Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal could make it.
 Despite requests from Union Minister Vijay Sampla and the district administration, the family continued with the rituals at the cremation ground. They only waited for a minute to allow DC KK Yadav and Mayor Sunil Jyoti to lay wreaths near the pyre.
 It was 10 minutes after the lighting of the pyre when the Deputy CM finally arrived and paid tributes. Sampla introduced the family to the Deputy CM, but they turned their faces away.
