One can rewrite history to suit one’s preferences but cannot change the facts.
After suffering so much at the hands of the foreign invaders; the present generations of the victims not only refuses to acknowledge the awakening, energising and empowering of the downtrodden masses by the Sikh Gurus; they despise the Sikhs and spare no effort to deny them their rightful due and rob them of their status, pride, esteem, energising spirituality and heritage. Why???

You have described the hypocrisy of the writer of this article titled, "White Washed from the History Books." in your brief three lines. The  The writer perhaps forgot how the Hindus of the Indian Subcontinent persecuted and slaughtered those they classified as "LOW CASTES" for centuries to this day. They practised apartheid and worst kind of Slavery of the alleged low castes that is still going on in the twenty first century. Hindus annihilated the Buddhas killing then by millions.Buddhas have to flee to adjoining countries to save their lives. The author has quoted all the modern writers in his article but skipped The eyewitness accounts of death and destruction vividly described by Guru Nanak Sahib ji. The author has Skipped the Heroic Struggles of Sikhs to defend one and all without any distinctions to save lives and bravely fight the oppressors to destroy the dreadful rulers.
It is strange to note the Akirtghan (Lowest kind of Ungratefulness) behaviour of the Hindu rulers in hilly areas of Punjab to join hands with Mogul rulers from Jahangir to Aurangzeb and subsequent Muslim Rulers to fight against Sikhs and commit dastardly Crimes against Humanity. Hindu Counterparts of Rajputana, married their daughters to Mogul Rulers receive Petty favours from Mogul rulers. If one look at FACTUAL HISTORY Sikhs have to go through a smaller Genocide and a Big Genocide during Afghan,,Turk, Durani and central Asian invaders who constantly attacked Sikhs. At one time there were only 60 thousand Sikhs in Punjab from whom 30 thousands were massacred in one day only. Sikhs not only had to fight Moguls but later also had to fight with British Rulers to free India from the slavery of more than a century.
In 1947 the Hindu rulers took power and Sikhs suffered the most loosing half of their Punjab and loosing lives by millions in addition to destruction of their properties. Hindus continued to oppress Sikhs by one crooked method or the other betrayals. Eventually Indira Gandhi invaded Sikhs killings thousands and destroying Gurdwaras across Punjab and Other places in India. The Hindus conducted an other Genocide of Sikhs in across India in November,1984 again. After Torturing and killings thousands of Sikhs just in fifty years of Hindu Rule they killed and destroyed Sikh Youth by the millions. The persecution of Sikhs continued in this twenty first centuries. Hindus  stole Sikh Literature in Sikh Archives and working hard at Distorting Sikh History and to glamorize Hinduism in the name of democracy that is FAKE. Minorities in India are suffering and suffocating.
They can try to distort historical Genocides through biased articles, but they can not hide or whitewash the facts.
