Guru Harkrishan Institute of Sikh Studies (GHISS) would like to remind you of the upcoming 22nd Annual Sikh Youth Gurmat Camp in Maryland from July 29 - August 5, 2017. Only the first 100 registrants with completed applications will be accepted. We have already received an overwhelming response again this year and the camp is filling up fast. If you are interested in attending the camp and have still not registered, please register online at http://www.ghiss.org or call Gurdeep Singh at (301) 528 2222 immediately so that you can be accomodated.

The camp is for youth of ages 6-19 years. It is an endeavor to expose the Sikh youth of the western world to the principles and values of Sikhism. It is an attempt to create a Sikh environment and provide a glimpse of the Sikh way of life. The camp is lead by motivated Gursikhs and is comprised of Kirtan, Tabla, and String Instruments classes, Gatka training, daily Kirtan Diwans, organized seminars, discussions, sports, various competitions, and other activities. We are making every effort to make this Camp another memorable one. GHISS has always given special emphasis to Sikh History and Gurmat and this camp has become a venue for youth to interact with each other and get answers to their various questions on Sikhism. It is a learning experience for the youth and counselors and this one week of camp has changed many lives.

Please note the following:

  • All registered participants will be receiving the camp preparation package that will be emailed in the next few weeks to the email address provided in th e registration form.
  • If you register online or make a verbal commitment to one of our counselors, please note that your registration is not complete till we receive the signed registration form along with your donation check.
  • Registrants to the camp are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, as soon as we touch our limit of 100 registrations, the unpaid registrations will be moved to the waiting list. We may also restrict the maximum number of campers in each level, thus closing registration to levels that exceed the maximum number desired in that level.
  • WE WILL NOT ACCEPT WALK-IN REGISTRATIONS. Every participant HAS to be pre-registered to be able to attend the camp.
  • We DO NOT accept WALK-IN COUNSELORS either. All counselors of the camp have been contacted based upon the various skills needed.
  • We would like to clarify that we do not allow parents or grandparents of kids participating in the camp to be counselors or stay at the camp site.
  • If your child is flying in and needs to be picked up/dropped-off, please let us know the flight details at least a week before the camp. We would strongly recommend consulting us before booking the flight to make sure that the flight time does not conflict with the opening or closing ceremony of the camp.

The GHISS camp is one of it's kind covering various aspects of a Gursikh Jeevan - Religious, Political, and Social. Many renowned speakers will be attending and there will be numerous workshops and seminars along with a practice of the Sikh way of life.

Further information about the camp can be obtained from the Gurmat Camps section of the official website of GHISS at http://www.ghiss.org. The website has pictures from past camps (including Camp 2016!). You can register online using the online registration form or download the form in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.

Please pass on this information to your local Gurdwara, family and friends, and to any other Sikhism-related mailing list you belong to.

Feel free to email us at ghisscamp@gmail.com for any further information.
