Re: Serving the Sikhs
With all due respects to all the wise participants in this dialogue giving excellent ideas and advise on an important  matter Concerning  high education and high positions in Indian bureaucracy and army etc.for Sikhs Sikhs. !
Myself , including many of my Sikh friends, relatives and elders worked hard in face of extreme poverty to achieve quite high positions in Indian Administration and Army during British Rule. Even after 1947 many of our elders continued to serve the people of India until  Nehru,Gandhi,Patel and Company started labeling Sikhs as 'criminals' starting  discriminating Sikhs in all fields. After that Nehru's daughter Indira ,and her son Rajiv (Both have to be eliminated because of their EVIL CRIMES AGAINST HUMAN DIGNITY & GENOCIDE OF SIKHS.My uncle held important high positions in Punjab Agricultural department as State statistician, then Director of Crop Insurance then going in to high positions in UNO. Similarly Dr. Kalkat, after serving as Deputy Director Agriculture went into a high position in World Bank in Washington. Many of my Professors from PAU went into International Organization holding Directors positions - Dr Dilbagh Singh as Head of In.Research Institute of Rice. I can count Scores of Sikhs who shifted to high positions in Agriculture,Medicine, Engineering,Forestry, and Law etc.
Many of my professors at PAU and my classmates have been occupying positions in education and Research in Universities and government in USA,Canada and many other countries including UN. Sardar Santa Singh Tatley was the first Army officer who commanded British army Company i Afghanistan and later in World war II and settling in British Columbia.I can go on and on counting thousands of Sikhs who gained recognition by dint of their hard work, honesty and dedication. They contributed to the well being of humanity at large. In Ottawa alone there must have been at least fifty Sikhs occupying high positions in the Govt. of Canada in various departments.
Tarsem Singh Purewal registered an organization of Sikh Professionals in Ottawa, but no one cared to carry that further after he grew old. Sikh are well settled in good positions and successful businesses outside India. I myself had to leave my position in agriculture department because of suffocating corruption all around. No honest person can work there in that land where corruption rules and injustices prevail everywhere.
The only person who can survive there are those who go along with the corrupt bosses and politicians to work as toadies. I am sorry to write tall this because I have gone through that experience myself.
Finally, The Teachings of Gurbani gives highest place to the Honest Kirat ( Earning), sharing with the needy and remembering the Creator at all time. this the key to sauces in life whether it was Julaha Kabir, Chheemba Naamdev.Chamiar Ravidas  The same Creator that abides in all beings. Many our Sikh (Both men & Women) are bus drivers,Truck drivers,Taxi Drivers, Nursing, toiling in factories on all kinds of technical jobs, Several Sikhs are Members of Parliament, Ministers. Chief Justices, Accountants, University professors, Researchers. We have great writers also among our ranks.I have known many young Sikhs going into professional positions in our adopted lands.
where there is justice and appreciation for honest work.
USA became Rich by getting many many Scientists from Germany ,Europe and ,many other Countries. The government funded the Land grant Colleges to educate the people, who excelled. The reason was that merit was the principle for awarding positions. I have known many rich families in North America donating their life time wealth and property given to universities,Hospitals and other causes for public good. Some financial help here and there is useful.but the ultimate sucess depends upon the hard work and dedication of each one of us.
A PERSON'S or A NATION'S GREATNESS LIES IN HUMBLENESS AND HONESTY. Many of our people do not need mentors or support, because they know how to work hard and progress to serve humanity..
