There is no cause to take Guru Granth Sahib on the roads

SUBJECT: Nagar Kirtan
Tens of thousands of people gathered at a Nagar Kirtan in Surrey BC this week. For the whole day people enjoyed variety of free food and beverages. At the end all were looking tired of wandering around. They were talking to one another about tiredness and said ‘to night we will have sound sleep’!  Really, Guru Nanak has rightly said on page 156: “Raiṇ gavā▫ī so▫e kai ḏivas gavā▫i▫ā kẖā▫e. Hīre jaisā janam hai ka▫udī baḏle jā▫e”. The nights are wasted sleeping, and the days are wasted eating. Human life is such a precious jewel, but it is being lost in exchange for a mere shell. (Who will understand this fact?)

In the Guru Granth Sahib at page 1372, we are reminded:
  “Kabir Sacha Satgur Kiyaa Karaiy Jau Sikhaan Meh Chook. Andhaiy Eak Na Lagayee Jeo Baance Bajaiyay Phook” (158)
As we all know that Since 16th August 1604, Guru Granth Sahib is kept open at Darbaar Sahib, Amritsar, subsequently followed in other Gurduaras all over the world, where the Sangat joins Congregation with devotion and humility. There is no cause to take Guru Granth Sahib on the roads under the name of “Jalooce or Nagar Kirtan” !! Such gimmicks must stop as such practices have not helped the Sikhs for spreading the Guru’s Teachings except free distribution of sweets, fruit, coco-cola as if we roam about in any Mela ?
  Though we can’t force anyone, individual can avoid such functions, as I do.
