Dear Hardev Singh,

This line of questioning is referred to as a strawman argument. The original write up was on the Parkash date of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, not which calendar should the Sikh Panth use. Instead of fabricating responses that have no relation to the original article being presented, a proper response should be formulated as to why 1 Vaisakh is correct or wrong, or if Kirpal Singh made a mistake in his write up.

Asking a strawman question as to which calendar has 1 Vaisakh as Parkash of First Patishah is not useful to further the discussion. You indirectly admit this is a strawman question when you mention: “The matter sent by you is complicated and requires detailed study and time”. Instead of wasting time with useless off-topic questions, maybe time should be spent to study and formulate a proper response.

Another point to note is that a calendar is made to display historical dates. To make a calendar, one needs dates and holidays, otherwise, a calendar is a paperweight that is never used. We do not look to calendars to give us our dates, we look toward our history and calculations to find them, at which then they are added to our calendars for the common person to find. A scholar looking for dates should be looking at our various historical texts or to find such dates or discover them through calculations. Though, if one wanted to answer your original question, then I believe the Jantri published by the SGPC in 1999 had First Patishah’s Parkash listed as 1 Vaisakh, but celebrated on Katak Pooranmashi.

Please do not waste time with these useless questions meant to stroke egos.
