Gurjit Singh Aujla
AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Congress Member of Parliament (MP) from Amritsar Gurjit Singh Aujla today wrote a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise the issue of the malicious propaganda being carried out by select media houses in India against Khalsa Aid, Ravi Singh, its founder CEO and other such organizations which are extending help to the farmers agitating against three farm laws promulgated by Modi-led government at the borders of Delhi.
The letter reads, “I bring into your notice the malicious propaganda being carried out by select media outlets in India against Khalsa Aid, Sh. Ravi Singh; its founder CEO and other such organisations which are selflessly serving the humanity in the times of crisis, natural calamities and or warzones. These allegations are unfounded, baseless and devoid of all credibility.
“These organisations are based on the Sikh principles of Sarbat da Bhala, which is the concept of the wellbeing of all humanity. Certain media outlets do not approach these organisations for comment but merely use their platforms to generate false attacks against such organisations and the charitable work that they out,” it reads further.
Aujla states in the letter, “Since the organisation Khalsa Aid has carried out hundreds of projects all around the world including India. A few noteworthy projects are; Help surviving cold during farmer protests 2020, Indonesia Earthquake and Tsunami Relief, Kerala Floods Relief, Congolese (DRC) Refugee Response, Restoring Electricity to Assyrian Orthodox Christians, Grenfell Tower (London) Fire, Life changing aid for Syrian refugees with disabilities, Syrian refugee emergency relief, Winter Camp Relief and Women’s Aid, Project Dignity: Essential Clothing for Yezidi women, ex slaves of ISIS, Greece: Refugee Crisis, UK Floods 2015, Yemen Civil War, Nepal earthquake 2015, Drinking water for flood victims in Malawi, Australia: Cyclone Marcia, Vishakhapatnam Cyclone, Flood relief in Jammu and Kashmir, Riots Relief Saharanpur, Displaced Sikhs in Iraq, Providing Bread to Syrian Refugees in Iraq, Bosnia Floods, Sudanese Refugee Camp, Uganda, Lebanon: Refugee support, UK Floods – 2014, Philippines Typhoon, Muzaffarnagar Riots, Uttarakhand Floods, Water Borehole, Kenya, Famine Relief, Kenya, Lybia & Syria (2011), Haiti Earthquake (2010), Cambodia Orphan Children, Displaced Sikhs in Pakistan 2009, Punjab Floods 2007, Bangladesh Cyclone 2007, Indonesia Tsunami 2006 and hundreds more”.
“It is worth mentioning here that when Khalsa Aid has been honoured and awarded at International levels for their humanitarian works. I therefore request your good self to personally intervene into this quagmire being created by certain media houses and take strict action against those who are trying to strangulate the true spirit of the Constitution of India”, the letter concludes.
The letter was also marked to Amit Shah, Union Home Minister of India.
The Indian TV channels which are spreading vilification against these Sikh organizations, include Zee News and Republic TV etc. Zee News has telecast a special programme recently to project Khalsa Aid as “terror organization” and its service as “revival of terrorism.”
