American Sikh Council (ASC) representative Kavneet Singh organized a Sikh exhibit at the National Association of Diversity Officers of Higher Education (NADOHE) which was held from March 6 - 8, 2025. This three-day conference was held at the Mariott Magnificent Mile, Chicago, IL.
Over 1,150 diversity officers, professors and academics, from various colleges and universities attended this conference. There were over fifteen exhibitors and many educational sessions covering, equality, gender issues, bullying, racism, bias, social justice and much more.
ASC representative Kavneet Singh interacted with the conference attendees by having conversations and answering many questions posed by the diversity officers and professors. Several brochures and books covering, Sikhs and Scouts, History of Sikh Americans, The Sikh Turban, Sikhs in the World Wars, the Sustained Sikh Genocide, Another Aspect of the Gadar Movement – The Struggle for American Citizenship and Property Rights, Bullying of Sikh American Children, were displayed and distributed.

Academic books about the Sikh American pioneers and their fight for citizenship and property rights were displayed as teacher resource material. The other ASC supported book written by Karanveer Singh which was well publicized at the convention was the ‘Bullying of Sikh American Children – Through the Eyes of a Sikh American High School Student’, www.bullyingasikhamericanchildren.org since this book has even been attested byPresident Barack Obama in 2016. This book is now in over forty school districts across the Eastern seaboard.
We were complimented by so many diversity officers and professors for participating and holding the exhibit which generated many requests to do presentations at colleges and universities across the nation, especially on the topic of diversity and inclusion.
ASC continues to build curriculum content for various levels in schools, including material for colleges/universities which are in progress.
The diversity officers were really appreciative of the in-depth understanding of the Sikh heritage, and were surprised at the wide spectrum of material touched on so many subjects under the Sikh tradition.
The outcomes of previous conferences are invitations to speak and present at various colleges and universities, i.e., to address the administration, students and faculty on multiple issues around the Sikh experience.
The networking and the outcome of ASC’s collective work continues to be great success, and in order to sustain this ongoing effort, ASC requests all the gurdwaras but especially member gurdwaras to step up and continue their support of these educational initiatives for the sake of all our youth.
