Navjot Singh Sidhu celebrates 50th birthday
Amritsar, October 20
Bringing to halt all speculations about his leaving the holy city, MP Navjot Singh Sidhu today celebrated his 50th birth day by organising `havan' at his new two storey palatial house located on the outskirts of Amritsar.
After this five-hour-long havan ceremony, Sidhu avoided the volley of questions showered on him by the media. — TNS

As we all know that Amritsar City was built/established by the Gurus Sahibaan and it is also well known as the Sacred Sikh Centre. But now look at the News item below from The Tribune dated Monday 21st October 2013.
During the Central Election held in May 2009, Navjot Singh Sidhu was elected as M. P. from Amritsar as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Then subsequently, when Punjab Assembly Election took place in 2012, his wife Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu had also won from Amritsar East as the candidate of BJP. Hence, both of them having accepted BJP as their mother party, they have to follow their Hindu ritual of ‘havan’ ceremony.
Despite this, CM Parkash Singh Badal, SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal, SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar, Head Minister Giani Gurbachan Singh, Head of Dharam Parchar Committee and other stooges will continue to support them, though Darbaar Sahib is not too far away from their newly built castle.
Badal Government has already appointed a Hindu IAS Official as Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, who presides over SGPC’s First Meeting of elected Members under The Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1925, as amended.
Let us wait and watch next development.
Gurmit Singh
