30th Years after Operation Blue Star - where do Sikhs go from here?
Dear Gurnam Singh Ji,
SSA.
It is an excellent thought provoking write up.Don't you think that what Guru Nanak wrote about the attack of Babar on Hindustan is mutatis mutandis relevant to us .We have suffered in 1947 and 1984 because we are disconnected from the teachings of Shabad Guru.We have become selfish and materialist and interested only in our own prosperity. The fundamental principles " Father hood of One God" is forgotten and we are pursuing many so called saints in Punjab and else where. The other principle of "Universal Brotherhood" is even not practised among ourselves what to say of the rest of the humanity.According to Bhagat Kabir," Kabir is a child of Ram and Allah, hence all Gurus and peers are our".After 1984,I read a letter written by a girl in Mumbai, wherein she informed the Sikh Review that a few persons went to a rich Sikh businessman of Mumbai and requested him to donate for the widows of 1984 and the gentleman gave reluctantly Rs. 101.However after a few days,he organised a party in a 5 star hotel so that he could have his photo with an actress whom he admired. In the party chicken and Champagne flowed in abundance. The girl asked whether our culture is chicken-champagne-scotch culture. It appears that we have forgotten the principles of "dharm di kirat karni" and " wand chhakna "The widows are still living sub human lives. We spend millions on our Gurdwaras bu donot like to spend anything to protect our daughters ,sisters and mothers.Once a Pathan had taken the wife of a Brahmin in Hoshiarpur andGuru Gobind Singh Ji sent Sahibzada Ajit Singh and hundred Sikhs to bring the lady back to her husband. Many Sikhs died in the skirmish but the task was successfully completed. After the Third Battle Of Panipat in 1761,when Abdali was returning to Kabul with loot and Maratha women, the Sikhs made his victory redundant and Punjab remained part of India. They freed the women and sent them to Maharashtra so that they could be re united with their families. When S. kapur Singh told this fact in The Parliament,The MPs from Maharashtra were not willing to accept this truth. We must learn from our history and look after unfortunate sisters.

Dear S. Jasjit Singh Ahluwalia jee, Former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax.
Kindly have a look at my response dated 25th June 2014 reproduced below.
Now with the cooperation of Aam Aadmi Party and its elected M.P.’s Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi, Bhagwant Mann, Khalsa Harinder Singh and Prof. Sadhu Singh, you too could do a lot provided all the well-wishers join with them in Punjab. They should also prevail upon the followers of BSP.
Those who could not succeed in the last Election, should also be encouraged like an old saying: “If winter comes, spring is not too far away”. I am sure that The Sikh Diaspora will also extend their assistance.
With best wishes,
Gurmit Singh (Sydney)

Dear Dr. Gurnam Singh Jee (UK),
Thanks a lot for sharing both the episodes of 6th June 1944 and 6th June 1984. Now one thing is crystal clear that after the Second World War, USA and EC NATO don’t wish to have another war at their doors. Accordingly, the Allied Forces have been busy in engineering wars in other countries from Korean War to the latest ones after 9 / 11.
Whereas the Sikh Nation has been on the receiving end as slaves since 29th March 1849. We have lost the past Dignity and Glory after the tragic episode of June 1984.
Or I would say that the day to day condition of the Sikhs in Punjab and other Indian States, is worse than the orphans and slaves except few, who have been rejoicing the lap of the Hindutva. More than 90% Sikh families have already abandoned the Guru’s Teachings as enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib. The so called Jathedars have been behaving like Qazis/Mullahs and Shankercharyas under the command of their Political Masters. Disunity and mistrust amongst the Sikhs is on the increase.
The Sikh intellectuals, if any, appear to have taken shelter in the caves like the olden days Naths and Yogis. There is no Sikh Think Tank as if they all have sunk under the burden of SAD, SGPC, DSGMC, AKJ, CKD, DDT and other personified Organizations.
Kindly look into some other strategy so that the Sikh Nation may unite under one Basanti Nishan Sahib and start practicing Gurbani enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib up to Mundavani at pages 1 to 1429. Like the Jews, The Sikh Diaspora could have played much more positive role but they too remain divided over petty jealousies !
With best wishes and Charhdi Kalaa,
Gurmit Singh (Sydney-Australia)
