(December 13, 2014)—An amritdhari Gursikh woman from Gurdaspur area felt as though she was left with no other option but to set herself on fire after being disallowed to meet with the state Chief Minister for multiple days.

Bibi Gurpreet Kaur had tried to meet with the Chief Minister, however his security paid no attention to her.  Security guards at Chief Minister Parkash Badal’s residence ignored a number of her visits and pleas to seek a small opportunity to discuss a matter.

Gurpreet Kaur was admitted Friday to local hospital at Sector 16.  She is being treated for 40 percent burns that were caused after she poured kerosene on herself and lit fire.

Sikh24 has learned that Gurpreet Kaur wanted to discuss the issue of increasing unemployment in the State.  Before her visit, she had allegedly tried to contact the Chief Minister and his personal assistant a number of times.

Gurpreet Kaur is said to be aged 36.
