CHANDIGARH, Punjab (March 8, 2015)—Noted Punjabi singer, lyrist and actor Raj Kakra’s second Punjabi movie ‘Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi’ has been banned by Indian Censor Board.
Earlier, Raj Kakra’s film ‘Kaum De Heere’ based on life events of Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh, Satwant Singh and Bhai Kehar Singh had been banned by the board and film could not be screened in India’s cinemas.
Imposing ban on the screening of ‘Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi’, the board maintained that content of the film is “objectionable” in various respects.
Film’s producer and Feteh Sports Club member Sandeep Singh said that the film was sent to the board for permission of its screening on February 2. Finally on March 3 , the board imposed a ban on it.
He said the board authorities has raised objections on scenes of attack on Gurdwaras, murder of innocent people, torture on women, thrashing people in police station mercilessly, rebuking women with dirty words and its “failure” in conveying any message to the society.
He said that they would appeal the committee to review its decision.
It is worth mentioning that the movie is being screened worldwide except India on April 2 by Fateh Sports Club.
The club members said the movie presents the sorrows faced by Punjab, and is based on the Sikh armed freedom movement that surfaced in 1980s and continued until mid 1990s. They told that it presents real character of Sikh movement which provided various benefits to the society.
