Op/Ed: Rajnath Singh Claims 1984 Was a Genocide; CBI Gives Clean Chit to Jagdish Tytler
 MARCH 26, 2015
“It cannot be called a riot, it was a massacre, a genocide, 1984 is a blot on India’s history” – Rajnath Singh
The world accepts what took place on the streets of Delhi in 1984 was a Sikh genocide, India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh himself said, “it cannot be called a riot, it was a massacre, a genocide, 1984 is a blot on India’s history”, the newly formed BJP government came to power promising justice for the victims of 1984……yet, it has been revealed that Jagdish Tytler, one of the most prominent leaders named in the many investigations of the Sikh genocide, was secretly given a clean chit 3 months ago by the CBI.
Senior advocate HS Phoolka, who has dedicated the last 30 years of his life to representing the victims families, expressed his horror at finding out the CBI had in fact, filed a closure report in the case of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on 24th December 2014. He went on to say, there has even been a court hearing since the CBI secretly filed the closure report, but such an important detail as this was not disclosed, even the complainant was not informed. In a move that makes a mockery of the law, the CBI has given Jagdish Tytler a clean chit for the third time in the case relating to his involvement in 1984 Sikh genocide.
Lakhwinder Kaur’s husband, Badal Singh, was brutally murdered in broad daylight along with Thakur Singh and Gurcharan Singh. Lakhwinder Kaur took the brave step to bring the case to court against Tytler, as he was present that day thirty years ago, near the Pul Bangash Gurdwara where he directed and controlled the blood-thirsty mobs to attack her husband and other innocent Sikhs. The Gurdwara was then set on fire.
