AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab (September 6, 2015)—The 16th Awareness March dedicated to the 354thbirthday anniversary of Shaheed Baba Jiwan Singh Ji was commenced by a performing of Ardas by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji. It may be recalled that Baba Jiwan Singh Ji was rewarded with ‘Ranghreta Guru Ka Beta’ award by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Panj Piare under the patronage of Guru Granth Sahib headed the march organized by Baba Jiwan Singh Educational Welfare Trust. The whole staff of SGPC including President Avtar Singh Makkar and Chief Secretary Harcharan Singh participated in the inauguration of the march.
Lighting, band and Gatka parties added interest to the march with their skills. An aeroplane also scattered flower petals on the Nagar Kirtan. Members of the Trust from Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttrakhand, U.P, Assam, Chhatisgarh, Gujrat and Maharashtra took part in the march. Long queues of motor vehicles were observable in front of the march. Students of schools and colleges also participated in the march beside religious and social bodies.
The Awareness March will enter Gurdaspur after traversing through Gaggomahal and Ramdas. It will conclude up at Sri Anandpur Sahib on September 5 where diwans will be organized at Sri Dashmesh Diwan Hall in Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
