MOGA, Punjab (October 7, 2015)—Sikh bodies in Moga staged a strike outside the Administration Complex in protest of disrespect to the turban committed by policemen during Punjab Bandh call on September 30. It is notable that Sikh activists were brutally thrashed by the Police contingents and turban of one activist was disrespected.
The protesters shouted slogans against the Punjab Chief Minister and sought action against the policemen for hurting religious sentiments.
Addressing the gathering, General Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) S. Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala said that Sikh activists were very less in count compared to the Police contingents when they were thrashed on September 30. “Police could have easily controlled the protesters however the latter committed sacrilege of the Sikh faith at the behest of higher authorities,” he alleged.
Baba Resham Singh Khukhrana said that while Sikh activists were thrashed for protesting, Sirsa cult followers blocked nearby roads for two days without any interference from the police. He said that police was seen shielding the dera followers during their protest.
Bhai Harjinder Singh Rode, Bhai Balraj Singh Khalsa, Bhai Harpal Singh Kussa, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Azad, Baba Kuldeep Singh Dhalleke, Bhai Narinderpal Singh Sidhu and others were the prominent among the protesters.
