Some facts, without prejudice – Salman Khan vs. Dalit and Working Class Indians
Posted: 12 Dec 2015 10:36 AM PST
Fact: The judge who found Salman Khan “not guilty” is the same person who twice denied bail to 3 members of a cultural troupe, Kabir Kala Manch (KKM) consisting of young Dalit and working class poets and musicians.
Fact: All 3 KKM persons denied bail had voluntarily surrendered themselves as, in their own eyes, they had not committed any serious crime.
Fact: None of the 3 are charged with murder, homicide, manslaughter, assault or robbery.
Fact: The 3 have now been in jail awaiting trial for over two and a half years and the trial is likely to take at least 2 more years.
Fact: An earlier judge had granted bail to several KKM persons facing similar charges to the 3 who have been denied bail.
Fact: Article 14 of our Constitution states that all are equal before the law.
