‘Sukhmani Sahib’ Scripture Vandalized in Ludhiana – Police Arrest Muslim Minors

LUDHIANA, Punjab—An unfortunate incident of vandalizing of the Gurbani Gutka (scripture) of ‘Sukhmani Sahib’ has again come into light in Ludhiana. On December 2, the torn pages of the Gutka Sahib were reportedly found scattered near Malli Farm in Chandar Nagar.
According to sources, Sikh devotees noticed torn pages and informed the police. The Police team immediately arrived and registered an FIR against unidentified miscreants under section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code.
The news spread to adjacent areas and concerned Sikhs immediately started convening at the location. The vandalized pages of Gutka Sahib were gathered together by the Sikh activists and were cremated at Gurdwara Katani Klan.
Meanwhile, the Police have arrested six minors on the basis of evidence on CCTV footage obtained from a building adjacent to where the Gurka Sahib was found.
Speaking to Sikh24, DCP Bhupinder Singh advised that the main culprit has been identified as Farman Ali, a 15 years old who hails from Uttar Pradesh. He said that Farman Ali found the Gutkas in astray and reached Malli farm while tearing the pages of sacred book.
The SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has sought strict punishment for the responsible culprits. He has said that the mischievous elements were deliberately trying to disturb the communal harmony of Punjab to benefit their vested interests. He added that the ‘Gurbani Scriptures’ that teaches the lessons of welfare of all and respecting other religions, were being desecrated by theculprits. He has appealed to the administration to punish the culprits with with a severe punishment so to deter any further occurrences.
