Even BBC Needs To Be Schooled On Difference BetweenSikhs & Muslims
Posted: 06 Dec 2016
LONDON, UK—To the dismay of Sikhs in UK, a BBC news segment on Muslim extremism showed a
Sikh Khanda in the middle of it’s piece.
The startling error alarmed many Sikh viewers, who have making tireless efforts to tackle such
misconceptions for over ten years. Sikhs being the most integrated minority community in the UK
have long been battling misconceptions within the public who sometimes mis-identify Sikhs as
Muslims, due to appearances.
The Sikh Press Association issues a statement on the matter, asking the BBC to work with them
and suggested working Sikhs organizations to begin “producing a report about the serious
consequences confusion between the two faiths can cause.”

The Sikh PA has contacted the BBC and asked them to edit their piece on iPlayer and requested
that an apology be issued.
