Posted: 29 Dec 2016
KUNDUZ, Afghanistan—Nirmohan Singh Dilsoze, a Sikh herbalist, in the town of Kunduz in Afghanistan, has been shot in the head and killed at approximately 9am (local) today.
Early reports indicate that he was killed by the Taliban but conflicting reports of the killers being local bandits are also being investigated. The armed men were seen to be wearing military attire as they fled.
Only three Sikh families reside in this part of Afghanistan. Most Sikh families, along with 30000 other local civilians had already left the region earlier this year, after the Taliban laid siege and occupied the area.
Nirmohan Singh was also shot five years ago and remarkably survived.
Messages of support and condolences for the family of Nirmohan’s Singh have been flocking in, especially from Muslims, who have expressed dismay and anger at the killing.
Police say they have apprehended three suspects but that investigations are continuing.
