Sukhbir Badal asks Captain to put control over vendetta politics

FARIDKOT, Punjab—Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and the Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal has asked the newly appointed Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh to take preventive measures to control vendetta politics in Punjab. He has said that the recent incidents of killings of Shiromani Akali Dal activists by the Congressmen were very unfortunate and the incidents of political revenge should be controlled immediately. On March 17, Sukhbir again asked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to pass strict directions to Police officers to not work under political pressure.
Citing the killing of a Shiromani Akali Dal activist Gurbachan Singh Khalsa in Gurdaspur by a Congressman Colonel Surjit Singh, Sukhbir Badal has said that the Police didn’t provide security cover to the victim despite of apprising Police of threats given by retired Colonel Surjit Singh.
Former Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal has also cited the killings of two Shiromani Akali Dal activists in a clash of Truck union in Mansa. He has accused the Police of not taking any action against guilty Congressmen.
Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal has said that the Shiromani Akali Dal will play a constructive role as an opposition party in the present government. He said that his part will co-operate the ruling Congress party over pro-Punjab decision but won’t tolerate any anti-Punjab step.
