Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi Seeks Autonomy for Punjab
Posted: 31 Jul 2018 07:40 AM PDTCHANDIGARH—Interacting with media at Chandigarh today, the Parliamentarian Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi sought an autonomous status for the Punjab. He claimed that his intellectual body Punjab Manch has concluded after thorough deliberations that an autonomous status to Punjab is an ultimate solution to all the problems.
Further explaining his approach, Dr. Gandhi said that the autonomy to Punjab was necessary for protecting the natural resources and equity of Punjab to ensure development.
Dr. Gandhi clarified that he doesn’t support the 2020 referendum and seeks an autonomous status for the territory of Punjab, not to any particular religion or community.
On being questioned about the ongoing crisis in the Punjab unit of AAP, he clarified that he won’t attend the gathering called by Sukhpal Singh Khaira in Bathinda on August 2 but is ready to extend support to any third political substitute in Punjab who will seek an autonomous status for the Punjab.
