“Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu says he will go on a hunger strike if the state government does not make the reports on the drug menace & the sacrilege incident public.
“Sops will empty the state treasury and kill livelihoods and do nothing to truly uplift the poor and eradicate tyranny of multiple-system operators such as FastWay,” he claimed. Will go on hunger strike: Navjot Singh Sidhu's threat to Punjab govt over drug menace: India Today Web Desk : New Delhi: UPDATED: November 25, 2021 19:19 IST: https://www.indiatoday.in/
He pointed out that the Congress had promised people in 2017 that it would "break the backbone of drugs mafia" in the state within four weeks.
"But according to the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) Reports from 2017 to 2020, Punjab has continuously retained the top position in crime rate in NDPS for the last four consecutive years,” said Sidhu in a series of tweets.
"Hon'ble HC supplied a copy of the STF report on drugs to the government. But instead of proceeding as per law, we are sitting on the STF report since February 2018. We have even failed to extradite the other accused in this multi-crore drugs case. The solution is to catch and punish the big fish," he said.
The cricketer-turned-politician said, according to the law, the government has all the powers “to proceed on the basis of the STF report".
"Hence, it (STF report) should be immediately made public, an FIR should be registered on its basis and a time-bound investigation should be initiated to catch the big fishes responsible for narco-terrorism," he said in another tweet. Sidhu has been demanding that the Congress government in Punjab make the STF report on drugs public”. INDIA TODAY
Navjot Singh Sidhu said there was a big difference between Delhi and Punjab. Delhi is a self-sufficient state whereas Punjab is under debt of Rs 7 lakh crore: Addressing mediapersons after the inauguration of developmental projects in his Assembly constituency here on Wednesday, Sidhu also hit out at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal over the announcement of providing Rs 1,000 per woman. He said, “A simple calculation will expose whether it is practical or not. For instance, providing 26 lakh jobs will mean an expenditure of Rs 93,000 crore, giving Rs 1,000 per woman will cost Rs 12,000 crore and two-kilowatt free power supply will cost Rs 3,600 crore. When taken together, all these freebies will cost Rs 1.10 lakh crore. The total budget of Punjab stands at Rs 72,000 crore. From where will Kejriwal bring the rest of the money?”.

He did not even spare his party’s government, as he said the announcement made by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to cap cable TV charges at Rs 100 per month was not practically possible as TRAI had fixed the rate at Rs 130. However, he hastily added that Channi’s performance was better than former CM Capt Amarinder Singh.
“In 2017, I introduced in the Cabinet the Punjab Entertainments Taxes Bill to end the monopoly of the cable mafia and to provide cheaper cable connections to people,” he said. The PCC chief said his Punjab model was “policy based” and aimed at providing relief from monopolies. “Sops will empty the state exchequer and kill livelihoods,” he said

Freebies will empty coffers: My Punjab model is ‘policy based’ and aims at providing relief from monopolies. Sops will empty the state coffers and kill livelihoods. Navjot Singh Sidhu, PCC chief
He said their Punjab model is about filling the state’s coffers. “I also praise him (Kejriwal) as he has done good work in Delhi. But Punjab and Delhi are different. Delhi is self-dependent while Punjab has a debt of Rs 7 lakh crore,” he added.

On Monday, the Punjab CM had also announced capping of cable TV connection rate at Rs100 per month. Without directly referring to Channi’s announcement, Sidhu said he introduced the Punjab Entertainment Taxes Bill to end to strengthen local operators and end one firm’s monopoly, making it pay due taxes to government and then transfer the benefit of cheaper connections to people. https://www.hindustantimes.

"The party came to power promising eradication of drugs," Mr Sidhu said today. "But if the government does not open the drug reports, I will go on a hunger strike. We need to show why the previous Chief Minister (Captain Amarinder Singh) sat on these reports. Now this government needs to open these reports. The court has not barred the state government from opening the reports," Mr Sidhu said at a rally in Moga.
The state agencies' reports on the drugs issue have been submitted to the High Court in sealed covers and Mr Sidhu wants the findings to be shared with the people. The removal of Amarinder Singh has not brought much peace in Punjab Congress. With Mr Sidhu's aspiration for the top post crashing again with the party Central leadership's selection of Mr Channi, the cricketer-turned politician resumed the pressure on the state government.
Days after Mr Channi's oath, he made his displeasure felt with the Chief Minister's picks for cabinet, state police chief and the Advocate General. That time, he had threatened to quit the party and stuck to his guns till his demands were met.
The truce between him and the Chief Minister has been uncomfortable since. Last month, Mr Sidhu wrote to Sonia Gandhi, listing a 13-point agenda on "priority areas" and promises made before 2017 polls he said "the state government must deliver upon". His suggestions ranged from arrest in drugs cases, creation of agricultural infrastructure and laws to control "cable mafia".NDTV
In Navjot Singh Sidhu’s case either way, praising or criticising him, it seems the henchmen of the central agencies are anti- Punjab in order to further loot Punjab
