On February 21, 2023 Qaumi Insaaf Morcha members announced that a five-member committee will go to Ludhiana’s Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) to get activist Surat Singh Khalsa discharged from the hospital so that he can participate in their ongoing protest at YPS Chowk on the border of Mohali and Chandigarh. Surat Singh Khalsa has been in the DMCH since June 2016 and his hospital bills are being borne by the Punjab Government. He has been allotted a private room inside the medicine department of the hospital”.

· सूरत सिंह को मिलने की मांग को लेकर काफी देर तक प्रदर्शनकारी पुलिस से बातचीत करते रहे। जिसके बाद इन्हें मिलने दिया गया।
· मोर्चा नेताओं ने कहा कि सूरत सिंह खालसा मोर्चे में शामिल होना चाहते हैं। वहीं कहा गया कि पुलिस प्रशासन और सरकार नहीं चाहती की उन्हें यहां से जाने दिया जाए।
· अस्पताल के बाहर बड़ी संख्या में पुलिस बल की तैनाती की गई।
कौमी इंसाफ मोर्चा की तालमेल कमेटी के पांच मेंबर बुधवार को मोहाली प्रदर्शन स्थल से लुधियाना के दयानंद मेडिकल कॉलेज एंड हॉस्पिटल पहुंची। यहां वह सूरत सिंह खालसा से मिलने और उन्हें मोर्चे के लिए लेने के आए थे। खालसा जून, 2016 से अस्पताल में हैं। वह सिविल राइट्स एक्टिविस्ट हैं।
मोर्चे से आए प्रदर्शनकारियों के यहां आने की सूचना पाकर स्थानीय जिला पुलिस के अफसर और पैरामिलिट्री फोर्स भी यहां पर तैनात हो गई। सूरत सिंह को मिलने की मांग को लेकर काफी देर तक प्रदर्शनकारी पुलिस से बातचीत करते रहे। जिसके बाद इन्हें मिलने दिया गया
। बाहर बड़ी संख्या में पुलिस बल की तैनाती की गई।
कई बार तबियत बिगड़ चुकी
बता दें कि 89 वर्षीय सूरत सिंह खालसा जनवरी महीने में 8 दिन मरणव्रत पर रहे थे, मगर बाद में कौमी लीडर के कहने पर उन्होंने व्रत तोड़ दिया था। बता दें कि पिछले कई सालों से वह मरणव्रत रख चुके हैं। इस दौरान कई बार उनकी तबियत भी बिगड़ चुकी है। वह मूलरुप से लुधियाना के गांव हसनपुर के रहने वाले हैं।

प्रशासन और सरकार पर आरोप
मोर्चा नेताओं ने कहा कि सूरत सिंह खालसा मोर्चे में शामिल होना चाहते हैं। वहीं कहा गया कि पुलिस प्रशासन और सरकार नहीं चाहती की उन्हें यहां से जाने दिया जाए। इससे पहले भी सूरत सिंह खालसा की तबियत खराब होने पर उन्हें अस्पताल में भर्ती करवाया जा चुका है।
