July 06, 2024 - UNITED SIKHS is mobilizing urgent relief efforts to support victims of the devastating hurricane that has struck the Caribbean. The hurricane's intense rains and powerful winds have caused severe damage to vulnerable communities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Dominica, and Barbados. This is said to be the most powerful hurricane to impact Jamaica in over a decade.

Our teams are actively organizing the distribution of critical supplies and food items to those in need. Relief efforts are being coordinated by boat to ensure delivery to Mayreau Island, Union Island, Canouan Island, and Carriacou Island, with assistance from the US Navy sailors and their families, particularly in hard-hit regions where flights are canceled and access to impacted areas is challenging.

Here’s how you can offer support:

If a gurdwara sahib or community center is looking to serve as a stock point for relief supplies, please contact us at contact@unitedsikhs.org to coordinate the collection of the following goods:

  • Non-perishable Food items
  • Tarpaulins
  • Generators
  • Solar lights
  • Clothes
  • Tents
  • Toilet paper
  • Rain jackets/coats
  • Sanitary pads
  • Diapers of all sizes

Your donations can be directly dropped off at 52 Hawthorne Avenue, East Slip, New York. Please contact us at contact@unitedsikhs.org to arrange a drop-off time.

Alternatively, you can support these relief efforts by contributing here.
