ASC participates in the Annual Interfaith Prayer Service at the Princeton (University) Chapel, Princeton, NJ on Nov 17, 2024.​

Representatives of the American Sikh Council (ASC), Dr. Balwant Singh and Kavneet Singh participated in the Annual Interfaith Prayer Service held on Sunday November 17, 2024 at the Princeton Chapel in Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey. Speakers from the Sikh, Jewish, Muslim, Baha’i, Hindu and Christian Faith traditions spoke to an audience of over 150 attendees with many others participating via Zoom.

 

Dr. Balwant Singh gave the prayer on behalf of the Sikhs and read a passage from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib to the audience. He is also a member of the Sikh Sabha Gurdwara, Lawrenceville, NJ.

 

Kavneet Singh is Chief Resource & Advocacy Officer for the American Sikh Council who has been involved with the Peace Coalition of Princeton, New Jersey Council of Religious Leaders and the Interfaith Philadelphia and doing community service in the Tri-state region for well over two decades.

 

This year’s keynote speaker was Rev. Adam Russell Taylor who is the President of the Sojourners a Christian group He previously served at the World Bank Group as the vice-president in charge of advocacy at World Vision US and the senior political director at Sojourners. He also served as the executive director of Global Justice, an organization that educates and mobilizes students around global human rights and economic justice. He holds a MPA from Harward University and is an ordained Baptist Minister from Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology.

 

Rev. Taylor spoke on the current political climate and the need to build bridges and bring people together.

Jefferey Laurenti of the Coalition for Peace Action along-with Dean Thames of Princeton University Chapel thanked the congregation for their avid participation. Rev Robert Moore has been the backbone of this organization for over 40 years and continues to lead it with much vigor.

 

The representatives from the American Sikh Council (ASC) have been regularly participating in the Multifaith Prayer service for the over twenty years and will continue to do so in the future.
