SGPC celebrates 99th foundation anniversary

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee today celebrated its 99th foundation anniversary at Teja Singh Samundari Hall. It is notable here that the SGPC was formed in November 1920.
   After the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Hazoori Raagi of Harmandir Sahib Bhai Sukhjinder Singh and his jatha performed Gurbani Kirtan. After the Ardaas by Bhai Kulwinder Singh, additional head granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib Bhai Jagtar Singh read the sacred Hukamnama.
During this ceremony, SGPC member Jathedar Tota Singh shed light on the history of this apex Sikh institution and said that SGPC was established to liberate historic Gurdwaras from the Mahants and bring it under the management of Sangat.
On this occasion, Giani Mohan Singh, former head granthi of sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib, Raagi Bhai Gurmail Singh, former Accountant S. Gurcharan Singh, former sewadar S. Karnail Singh and former sweeper Bhai Gurudev Chand were also honored.
On this occasion Shiromani committee member Bhai Ram Singh, S. Mangwinder Singh Khapar Kheri, S. Darbara Singh Guru, S. Ranjit Singh Talwandi, S. Karnail Singh panjoli, S. Ajmer Singh Khera, Bibi Joginder Kaur, S. Sawinder Singh Sabharwal, S. Kuldip Singh Teda, Manager S. Jaswinder Singh Dinpur, Dr. Paramjit Singh Saroa, Former Secretary S. Joginder Singh Adliwal, S. Satbir Singh Dhami, Deputy secretary S. Sakattar Singh, S. Satinder Singh, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, S. Nishan Singh, S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, S. Sullakhan Singh Bhangali, S. Harjinder Singh Kaironwal, Assistant Superintendant S. Malkit Singh Beharwal and almost all staff of SGPC was present.
  SGPC president Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal has congratulated the whole Sikh community on this historic day. He said that the SGPC represents the whole Sikh community globally and it has always played a vital role in the preachment of Sikhism. SGPC will continue to make efforts for the preachment of Sikhism and providing health and social services to common people.
   SGPC president also said that the 100 years of SGPC’s establishment day will be celebrated at big level next year.
