Sikh Women Displaying Pictures of Singhs Lodged in Jails Throughout India
AMRITSAR SAHIB (November 26, 2013)—Scores of Sikh women have handed a memorandum to appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh of Akal Takhat Sahib asking for his help in seeking the release of Sikhs from Indian prisons.  The memorandum was handed to S. Bhupinder Singh Sarpanch at the Akal Takhat Sahib.  Giani Gurbachan Singh was unable to accept the memorandum in person.
The Jatha of Sikh women, under the banner of “Jatha Mata Bhaag Kaur Ji” included various eminent personalities including Bibi Sandeep Kaur (Shaheed Bhai Dharam Singh Trust), Bibi Manjeet Kaur (Shaheed Bhai Fauja Singh Trust) and others.  The Jatha of Sikh Bibis awaited the Jathedar to address their concerns for over three hours before handing it over to the Akal Takhat Sahib’s in charge on duty.  As per information received by Sikh24, Giani Gurbachan Singh was well aware that the Sikh women were going to approach him however he remained absent from his duties.
The memorandum asks Giani Gurbachan Singh to intervene and seek the release of various Sikhs who have been lodged in Indian jails despite having served their sentences.
The memorandum was submitted eyeing the continued fast by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh at Gurdwara Amb Sahib at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar.  Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has announced that he will fast until some strict action is taken to release the Sikh prisoners.
He has been on the fast for 12 days.
