ANANDPUR SAHIB, Punjab (June 14, 2015)—A 42 feet tall Khanda made of stainless steel has been installed at Panj Piara Park of Sri Anandpur Sahib. The Khanda is 18 feet wide and of weighs 3 tons. Sikh sangat from Sri Anandpur Sahib and other adjacent area is visiting the park to see this newly installed Khanda. The environment of Panj Piara park went cheerful with echo of ovations when Singh Sahib Giani Mall Singh, Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, SGPC member Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla, Manager Sukhwinder Singh Grewal and other present Sikh personalities inaugurated the Khanda.

The Khanda has been manufactured at Satnam Fabrication in Moga under surveillance of Sant Baba Karnail Singh Tallewal. It consumed 3 months and costs Rs. 22 lakhs to get finalized. The Khanda is made up of Stainless steel of quality 304 and its design is aerodynamic to tackle the fluctuations of air pressure. The Bata of this Khanda is 10 feet wide and 3½ feet height. The 39 feet higher foundation ground for this Khanda has been given appearance like Ramgarhia Bungas. After the rainy season, 22 marble artists from Agra and Dhaulpur will embed marble on the foundation that would cost to Rs. 20 lakh.
Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that on 350th foundation day of Sri Anadpur Sahib, Chief Minister Parkash Badal will unveil this Khanda on June 17. Elaborating the importance of Khanda and Bata in Sikhism, Singh Sahib Giani Mall Singh said that the tradition of Amrit Sanchar with Khanda-Bata was invented in Sri Anadpur Sahib.
