DEHRADUN, Uttarakhand, India—Despite getting approved by the Union government of India and State government of Uttarakhand two years ago, the ropeway project planned for the hilly Sikh shrine Sri Hemkunt Sahib has not been initiated till date. Notably, the ropeway project from Govind Ghat to Sri Hemkunt Sahib was proposed by Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust and was given nod by the Indian government and Uttarakhand’s state government in 2015.
Speaking with Sikh24, Vice President of Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust S. Narinderjit Singh Bindra said that he has made numerous appeals to the Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister and Tourism Minister in written, as well in personal meetings, but there was no development on behalf of Uttarakhand’s government in this concern.
